Legislative tracking for state and local government, without the five-figure contract.
State agencies, cities, counties, school districts and public universities have to answer for bills they did not write. Mandate watches every statehouse, Congress and federal agency, explains in plain English what each change means for your organization, and gets the briefing to leadership faster.
State agencies
Legislative liaisons and policy offices in state departments, boards and commissions
Every session brings bills that rewrite your statutes, move your budget and add reporting requirements, and the fiscal note is often due before anyone has read the bill.
Mandate reads each bill in your state against your agency's mission, flags the ones that touch your programs and tracks them through committee, so testimony and fiscal notes are never a surprise.
What Mandate watches for you
- Bills amending your enabling statute
- Appropriations and budget language
- New reporting requirements
- Federal rules your programs carry out
Cities, counties and special districts
Intergovernmental affairs, manager and administrator offices, clerks, transit and utility authorities
Preemption, unfunded mandates and changes to local revenue can move through the statehouse in a matter of days, and nobody on staff is paid to watch it full time.
Tell Mandate what your government does and it watches the statehouse and Congress for anything that changes your authority, your revenue or your obligations, with a plain-English brief every Monday.
What Mandate watches for you
- Preemption of local authority
- Unfunded mandates
- Local revenue and tax limits
- Federal grant rules
School districts and public higher education
Superintendents' offices, school boards and government relations at public colleges and universities
School finance formulas, testing mandates and higher education funding change every session, and the people who have to explain them to the board are already stretched.
Mandate tracks education bills and federal education rules for your state, rates the impact on your district or campus and hands you a briefing you can forward to leadership or your board.
What Mandate watches for you
- School finance formulas
- Curriculum and testing mandates
- Higher education funding
- Federal education rules
Associations of public entities
Municipal leagues, associations of counties, school board associations and public employer groups
Your members are governments that expect you to know about every bill before they do, and your policy team is a few people covering an entire legislature.
Track every issue your members care about from one dashboard, send them a clear weekly picture and see federal rules with the comment deadlines that close on them.

Questions
Does Mandate cover city and county ordinances?
Not today. Mandate covers state legislatures, DC, Puerto Rico, Congress and final and proposed federal agency rules.
Is Mandate FedRAMP or StateRAMP authorized?
Not today. Mandate works from public legislative and agency data plus the short profile you give it about your organization. Your workspace is private to your organization and encrypted in transit and at rest. Our security page has the details.
Can a public agency use the advocacy campaigns?
Campaigns are optional. Many public bodies have rules about using public funds for lobbying or grassroots advocacy, so check with your counsel or ethics office before you run one. Tracking, briefs and comment deadlines work on their own.
How do we buy it?
Start with a free trial, then pay by card monthly or yearly. Plans start at $149 a month. If your purchasing office needs a quote, an invoice or a purchase order, email hello@mandatepolicy.com.
Is the impact analysis legal advice?
No. Treat it as a first read: confirm dates against the official source and talk to counsel before relying on it.
